Description
William Hogarth (1697-1764) was an English artist, printmaker, engraver, and satirist. He is credited with the concept of sequential art. His works cover a wide range of topics including realistic portraits, comic-like strips, political satire, and historical art. He made several series of moral works including A Harlot’s Progress, Rake’s Progresses, and Marriage à-la-mode which is considered to be his finest work.
