“Brown paper packages tied up with strings, these are a few of my favorite things!” These famous lyrics have been celebrated since they were first published in 1959. Imagine for a moment that this song’s title has been changed to “My Favorite Things…About Winter,” and you are the star singer (in this fantasy, you are a great singer!) If this were the case, what would you sing about? Electric blankets on cold nights? A Starbucks Peppermint Mocha? A Few of Our Favorite Things About Winter
There are hundreds of things that people love about winter. Here are a few of Segmation’s favorite things about this magical time of the year:
- Movies – The winter season is prime time for snuggling in and watching movies like Frozen, The Grey, the Harry Potter series, The Chronicles of Narnia, and White Christmas. Also, wintertime lends itself to the watching of old movies such as It Happened One Night, The Bishop’s Wife, Casablanca, and Gone with the Wind. What is your favorite film to watch in the snowy months?
- Candy – There is NO time like wintertime to make candy. (Just imagine making fudge in the midst of summer. Not a very appealing thought.) Of all the sweet treats one might make in winter, we love a treat called Christmas Crack. This cheap, easy-to-make candy is so good that it should not be restricted to being made only around the Christmas holiday! Here is a great recipe for Christmas Crack.
- New Year’s Eve – Of all the parties one attends during a calendar year, a New Year’s Eve party may be the most fun of all. Ringing in the New Year by drinking champagne, dancing, and wearing something ritzy makes us happy. How about you?
