Piero della Francesca - Early Renaissance Artist

Piero della Francesca (c.1415 - 1492) was a painter of the Early Renaissance who was also known as a painter and geometer. His works are characterized by humanism, geometry and perspective. Most of his works were religious based and he is best known for the cycle of frescoes in The Legend of the True Cross in the church of San Francesco in the Tuscan town of Arezzo. Our collection of patterns contains many of his most well known pieces including several from The Legend of the True Cross, The Baptism of Christ, and several pieces from Montefeltro Altarpiece, the Diptych Portrait of Battista Sforza and Federico da Montefeltro, and the Polyptych of Saint Augustine.

Pieter Bruegel the Elder (c.1525 - 1569) was a Netherlandish Renaissance painter who was best known for his detailed landscapes and peasant scenes. Pieter de Hooch (1629 - 1684) was a Dutch Genre painter who is noted for his interior scenes, strong use of perspective, and accurate lighting. His works are similar to those of his Dutch contemporary, Johannes Vermeer, in both content and style. Although he initially painted soldiers and their surroundings, he turned his attention to painting genre scenes depicting Dutch domestic life. Many of these scenes include home interiors, courtyards, and gardens with women as the main characters. A rose is a perennial flower or shrub that comes in many species and colors. There is also a range of sizes for roses from miniature roses to climbers that reach over 15 feet. They are characterized with a delightful fragrance, a set of colorful oval leaves, and a prickly stem. There is an edible side to roses: they have edible fruit, rose oil is used for cooking, rose hips are used for jellies and jams, and rose syrup is used for scones and marshmallows. Our set of Rose patterns contains many images of colored roses, many taken from a macro camera lens in various close up positions. Rachel Ruysch - Dutch Flower Painter

Rachel Ruysch (1664 -1750) was a Dutch still life painter best known for her artwork involving flowers. She was undoubtedly inspired by her father, a very famous botanist of the era. She had a long career of painting starting at age 15 and continuing producing excellent works well into her 80s. The backgrounds of her paintings were very dark, which was the style for flower paintings at the time. Later in her life, she was influenced by another painter who painted lighter backgrounds, and she too adapted that style. You’ll find many examples of her works in our pattern set, with flowers in bouquets, vases, and with various props including a butterfly, fruits, tree trunks, tulips, insects, and bees.

Rembrandt van Rijn - 17th Century Dutch Master

Robert Delaunay - French Abstract Artist

Robert Delaunay (1885-1941) was a French artist who founded the Orphism movement known for strong colors and geometric shapes. He is best known for his bold use of color and experiments with tone and depth. He was also labeled a divisionist for his use of large tiles to construct small but symbolic works. Along with fellow artists Metzinger, George Seurat, and Paul Signac, their works are considered part of a Neo-impressionism which started in France. Delaunay’s later works are more abstract with nonfigurative paintings that still had the characteristics of brilliant colors and felt dynamic. Our Robert Delaunay pattern set contains a broad collection of his works showing his most recognized works including Portrait de Metzinger, Tour Eiffel, The Towers of Laon, Color Explosion, Circular Forms, Simultaneous Windows in the City, Endless Rhythm, St. Severin, and Nu à la coiffeuse. Robert Henri - American Portrait Artist and Teacher

Robert Henri (1865 - 1929) was an American painter and teacher and a leading figure of the Ashcan School of American realism. The Ashcan school was a moment away from impressionism and focused more on realistic art which would be more relevant to the artist’s time and experience. Henri became a influential art teacher emphasizing more the attitude to their approach to art. His works comprise many portraits including those of his fellow painters. Our collection of Robert Henri patterns includes many of his most recognized works including Salone, Mary Agnes, Woman in Manteau, Irish Boy, La Reina Mora, the Goat Herder, El Tango, Viv in Blue Stripes, Segovian Girl , Roshanara, Patience, as well as several landscapes.
