Gerard ter Borch - Dutch Genre Painter

Gerard ter Borch (1617 - 1681) was a Dutch Genre Painter who depicted life in middle class 17th century Holland. He was influenced early in his life by his father, also a painter. His works were both portraits and interior scenes. Some elements of his unique style include his handling of drapery and satins, and also painting a full body portrait, rather than just the face. The colors in his paintings are subdued, due largely to the dress coloring of the times. We've included numerous well known paintings in this pattern set including The Letter, The Concert, The Spinner, The Card Players, Boy Fleaing his Dog, Hunting for Lice, Woman Drinking with a Sleeping Solider, and The Glass of Lemonade. There's also a self-portrait included.

Amigos

Amigos (Spanish and Portuguese for friends), is a term of endearment we use for people and comrades we know well and trust. Our Amigos pattern set contains many well designed and fun images depicting Mexican-themed people and concepts. Just in time for Cinco de Mayo, you'll find cowboys on their horses, mariachi performers with their musical instruments and maracas, colorful flamenco dancers and singers, iguanas, dancing chili peppers, some guy taking a siesta, and even a few cacti.

William Merritt Chase - American Impressionist Painter

William Merritt Chase (1849-1916) was an American Impressionist Painter who established a school for artists known as the Chase School. He played various roles in his life including an artist, teacher, father, and sophisticated cosmopolitan. Although he worked with all media, he was most talented in oil painting and pastel, as well as watercolor. He is best known for his portraits, who sitters included important people of the day and also his family members. Locations including Prospect Park, Central Park in New York City, and Shinnecock Hills on Long Island were popular locations for his outdoor paintings. Our set of patterns includes several self portraits, and numerous portraits including Portrait of a Lady, lady in Pink, Lady in Black, The Blue Kimono, Girl in Red Embroided Jacket, The Mandolin Player, Still Life Fish, At the Seaside, Azaleas, Girl in Japanese Costume, Portrait of Miss Dora Wheeler, and Portrait of Louis Betts.

Spring Colors

Spring is that season where days get longer and the weather gets warmer. Common themes in Spring include rebirth, rejuvenation, and regrowth. A visible sign of Spring, once the snow starts melting, is the early blooming of various plants and flowers. These include magnolias, cherries, quince, crocus, brittlebush, wildflowers, irises, snowdrop, and hyacinth. Our Spring Colors set includes many great pictures of springtime blooms in an assortment of shapes and colors.

Jean-Franois Millet - The Peasant Painter

Jean-François Millet (1814-1875) was a French painter best known for his depictions of peasant farmers. His works are considered part of the naturalism and realism movements. He was one of the founders of the Barbizon school whose artists focused more on creating realistic works of art, rather than the more popular romantic style of the day. The French landscape was a popular them of the Barbizon school. Many of Millet's works involve field workers, but he also created a number of portraits and interior scenes. Our collection of patterns includes most of his most recognized works including The Angelus, The Potato Harvest, The Gleaners, The Sheepfold, Woman Baking Bread, Haystacks, The Man with a Hoe, and The Sower.

Baby Face

Baby Face refers to an expression of cuteness commonly associated with youth and appearance. The attributes which describe this effect involve a large head disproportionate to the body, a pleasant small nose, dimples, hairless body, small teeth, small upper and lower jaws, and overall rounded features. Our pattern set contains a collection of photographs of adorable children in a wearing an assortment of clothing (hoodies, sundresses, bathing suits, hats), and props (sunglasses, cookies, rattles), and expressing a wide range of emotions (laughing, surprise, curious, boredom, shyness, crying).

Ernst Ludwig Kirchner - German Expressionist Painter

Ernst Ludwig Kirchner (1880-1938) was a German Expressionist Painter and involved with the foundation of Expressionism in 20th century art. Trained as an architect, Ernst founded an artist group known as 'The Bridge', which was mandated with ignoring the traditional academic style of painting and finding a new way to express artistic styles. This bohemian group overthrew social conventions and was accepting of nudity, and other freedoms from established forces. The unconventional lifestyle allowed Ernst to express his artistic talents in a radically new format from established art styles. Our pattern set includes many of his known works including Marzella, Self Portrait as a Solider, Tavern, Nollendorfplatz, Erna, Fränzi in front of a Carved Chair, Bridge at the Mouth of the Weisseritz, Dr. Alfred Döblin, and Czardas Dancers.

Juan Gris - Spanish Cubist Artist

Juan Gris (1887-1927) was a Spanish painter and sculptor who is most commonly associated with the Cubist movement of the early 20th century. In Cubism, art pieces are broken up into pieces and then reassembled in an abstracted form to allow them to be viewed from multiple viewports. Juan was close friends with another Cubist painter, Pablo Picasso, but instead focused on synthetic cubism where objects were no longer recognizable in their original form, but took on new forms. Juan experimented with different materials as well adapting a collage technique in numerous works. Our collection of patterns includes a broad sampling of his cubism style including Guitar and Pipe, Portrait of Picasso, Harlequin with Guitar, The Packet of Cigars, Violin and Checkerboard, the Bull Fighter, Landscape with Houses at Ceret, and A Man in a Café.

Snowman

A Snowman is a popular snow sculpture created by rolling three large snowballs and assembling them vertically to form a base, body, and head. Design elements are then added including branches for arms, a carrot for a nose, rocks and charcoal for buttons and eyes, and even a hat, scarf, gloves or jacket as warm clothing. Snowman are popular in modern culture and traditional character in many Holiday stories and songs, including everyone's favorite 'Frosty the Snowman'. Our Snowman pattern set includes many illustrations of Snowman designs with scarves, hats, flags, and branches. Children are shown building snowman. The Snowman are standing still, ice skating, holding stars, birds, candy canes, and brooms, and even throwing an snow ball.

Albert Bierstadt - German-American Landscape Painter

Albert Bierstadt (1830-1902) was a German-American landscape painter. He achieved fame by joining several trips of the Westward Expansion and painting the vast landscapes in a style known as luminism, characterized by glowing lights and a romantic mood. Although criticized for using enormous canvases and exaggerated lighting and coloring, his paintings were popular in their day, providing many viewers with a glance of the newly accessible American West. Our set of Albert Bierstadt patterns contains many works showing various landscape scenes including In the Sierras, Yosemite Valley, Call of the Wild, Seal Rock, Pikes Peak, Elk, The Coming Storm, Rocky Mountain Sheep, and San Francisco Bay.

The Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower is located in Paris, France. It's a iron lattice structure built in 1889 as an entrance arch to the 1889 World’s Fair which celebrated the centennial of the French Revolution. When it was built, it,was the tallest man made structure (320m/1050ft). It's named after Gustave Eiffel, the engineer who designed the tower. The tower quickly became the most recognized cultural symbol of both Paris and the country of France. Our Eiffel Tower pattern set consists of many patterns created from well composed photographs of the Eiffel Tower, taken from numerous vantage points. The scenes show the Tower with different lighting, and from different angles. Some of the photographs have been stitched together from numerous photographs. There are also some unique photographs captured in black and white.

John Hoppner - English Portrait Painter

John Hoppner (1758-1810) was a English Portrait Painter who emulated the earlier style of Sir Joshua Reynolds. His talents as an artist were discovered in his childhood, and he quickly became a notable artist who many famous individuals desired to sit for. His clients included the Prince of Wales (who sat more than once), Sir Walter Scott, the Duke and Duchess of York, Sir George Beaumont, Lord Nelson, Lord Rodney, Frere, and the Duke of Wellington. Hoppner’s portraits were proudly displayed in St. James’s Palace staterooms. Hoppner was best at creating images of children and women. John Hoppner is known throughout the art world as a brilliant colorist due to his genius use of vivid color in his pieces. Our pattern set for John Hoppner contains many of his loved portraits including Adam Duncan, Princess Mary, Mrs. Williams, Viscant Lascelles, Mrs Abington, Captain George Portner, The Sackville Children, Sir George Beaumont, and Anne Isabella Milbanke.
