Hans Holbein the Younger - German Portraitist

Hans Holbein the Younger (1497 - 1543) was a German born painter who is considered one of the finest portraitists in the Early Modern Period. As a court painter for Henry VIII, Hans drew many portraits of both Henry VIII, and the extended royal family. He is also known for painting many richly colored religious works in the late Gothic style. Our large collection of Hans Holbein the Younger patterns includes several portraits of Henry VIII, as well as those of Erasmus, Jane Seymour, Boniface Amerbach, Thomas Chromwell, Christina of Denmark, Jan Small, Anne of Cleves, and Sir Thomas More. There are also several religious patterns including The Last Supper and Adam and Eve, and a self-portrait.

Titian -The Great 16th Century Venetian Painter

Tiziano Vecelli (c. 1485 - 1576) , better known as Titian, was a great 16th century painter who major works included portraits, religious paintings, mythological scenes, and nudes. He is best known for his development of modern portraiture, and his extraordinary use of color. Many consider Titian to be the founder of modern painting because of his influence on other masters that he inspired (El Greco, Rubens, Rembrandt, and Picasso). Though his favorite color was red, his palette was large, and Titian applied color in very novel ways. Our collection includes many of his most well known portraits including Pope Paul, Ariosto, Isabella d'Este, Laura de'Dianti, Doge Andrea Gritti, Lavinia (his daughter), King Phillip II, Charles V, Eleonora Gonzaga Delle Rovere, Empress Isabel of Portugal, Ranuccio Farnese, and Federigo II, Gonzaga. There are also 2 self-portraits, and many mythological scenes including Bacchus, Venus, and Adonis.

Paolo Uccello - Florentine Renaissance Painter

Paolo Uccello was a talented painter living in Florence, Italy in the fifteenth century. His obsession with properly using and mastering perspective principles in his works is no doubt his lasting legacy. His analytic realism combines with his geometrization of forms and helps provide an overall effect of abstraction in many of his works. Our collection of works include the Battle of San Romano, Saint George and the Dragon, Creation of the Animals and Creation of Adam, Creation of Eve and the Expulsion, Portrait of a Lady, Portrait of a Young Man, Mary's Presentation in the Temple, and Disputation of St. Stephen. Eugne Delacroix - The Great French Romantic Painter

Eugène Delacroix (1798-1863) was a leading French Romantic painter whose passionate work with color and expressive brushstrokes played a major role in influencing the forthcoming Impressionist movement. He often used Greek and Roman romantic themes in his paintings. Casper David Friedrich - The Essence of German Romanticism

Caspar David Friedrich (1774 - 1840) was a German landscape painter in the 19th century whose art has come to symbolize many of the attributes of the Romantic Movement. His symbolic landscapes reflect his feelings about man's relationship with nature, life cycles, as well as his own personal spiritual experiences with life. Our set of Caspar David Friedrich patterns includes many that contain the allegorical symbols used in his Romantic visions: sun and moon, mountains, rivers, icy seas, trees, ravines, fog, snow, clouds, churches and crosses, graveyards, and various animals (swans, ravens). We've include many of his most recognized works including Swans in the Reeds, The Cross in the Mountains, The Tree of Crows, On the Sailboat, Chalk Cliffs on Rügen, The Life Stages, and In Memory of the Riesengebirge.

Frederic Remington - Master Painter of the American West

Frederic Remington (1861-1909) was an American Painter and Sculptor who skillfully depicted many scenes of the American West. His commissioned relationship with the Harper's Weekly magazine allowed him to pursue a career in illustration and art specializing in scenes involving soldiers, pioneers, cowboys, scouts, and Indians. Our SegPlay collection contains over 30 of his most recognizable works including Fight for the Waterhole, Return of a Blackfoot Party, The Smoke Signal, The Scout: Friends or Foes?, Pool in the Desert, Self Portrait on a Horse, The Outlier, and His First Lesson. Other patterns included showcase Remington's unique depiction of horses, buffalos, moose, and other animals, as well as US Cavalry troops, Native American Indians and Comanche, Mexican Vaqueros and American cowboys.

Frdric Bazille - French Impressionist

Frédéric Bazille (1841-1870) was a talented Impressionist painter whose life was tragically cut short by his death in the Franco-Prussian War. During his 29 years he produced a handful of excellent works, which showcased his skills for displaying light and atmospheric effects. Our collection includes nearly all of his renowned works including Family Reunion, The Pink Dress, The Little Gardener, La Toilette, Negress with Peonies, Summer Scene, and Bazille's Studio. There are also a number of self-portraits, a portrait of Renoir, a portrait of Edouard Blau and a few landscapes.

Alfred Sisley - English Impressionist

Alfred Sisley (1839-1899) was a French Impressionist of English origins whose work is considered the most typical for Impressionist painters, never varying much from his landscape scenes of the French countryside. His paintings capture scenery from several cities around Paris including Argenteuil, Marly, Moret, Louveciennes and Bougival. Diego Velzquez - The Great Spanish Master

As a court painter to the Spanish King Philip IV in 17th century Spain, Diego Rodríguez de Silva y Velázquez (more commonly referred to as Diego Velázquez) was the leading Spanish artist of his time. His modern and realistic portraits of the royal family, European figures, as well as commoners, served as a major influence for many prominent painters in future years including Picasso, Dali, Bacon, and Manet. Anthony Van Dyck - Flemish Portrait Painter

Anthony Van Dyck (1599-1641) was one of the great Flemish Painters of the 17th century. His refined and elegant style is an underlying strength in all of his works. He is perhaps best known as the painter for Charles I for whom he created a multitude of portraits with royalty as subjects. Our SegPlayPC collection of 29 images showcases many of his well-known portrait images. You'll find several self-portraits (including the Sunflower one). There are also portraits of Charles I, Henrietta Marie, Elena Grimaldi, Marie-Louise de Tassis, Frans and Margareta Synders, William II Prince of Orange, Nicholas Lanier, Isabella Brant, and the three eldest children of Charles I.

John Constable - British Landscape Artist

John Constable (1776-1837) was an English Romantic painter who was best known for his landscape paintings, which vividly showed the sky and clouds as never before. His use of sketches and note taking to plan and record his work was also novel for the time. Our SegPlayPC collection contains 20 of Constable's most recognized pieces including Dedham Vale, The Hay Wain, Weymouth Bay, The Leaping Horse, Stonehenge, View of Dedham, Malvern Hall, The Leaping Horse, The Cornfield, Boat-building near Flatford Mill, and Chain Pier, Brighton.

Camille Pissarro - Father of Impressionism

Camille Pissarro (1830-1903) was a French Impressionist painter who painted scenes of urban and rural landscapes. He frequently used peasants and laborers as subject matters in his works. He is considered the father of impressionism mostly because of his mentoring relationships with Cézanne, Gauguin, Degas, and other impressionist artists of the times. Our SegPlayPC collection of 27 patterns contains a wide sampling of his art style.
