Halloween Scenes

Halloween is a popular holiday celebrated on October 31. Although it has roots with the Christian holiday of All Saints' Day, Halloween is not a religious celebration. Activities associated with Halloween include trick-or-treating, wearing costumes, carving jack-o'-lanterns, attending bon fires, apple bobbing, and visiting haunted houses. Francisco Zurbarn - The Spanish Caravaggio

Francisco Zurbarán (1598 - 1664) was a Spanish Painter who is primarily known for his religious oriented works of art which were depicted using a realistic style called chiaroscuro (contrasting light and dark areas).. The set title lays reference to the Italian painter Caravaggio who also excelled at chiaroscuro. Another characteristic in Zurbarán’s paintings is his renditions of drapes and robes. His subjects were usually a single figure of a religious theme. Our pattern set includes most of his most recognized works including Christ and the Virgin in the House of Nazareth, Saint Francis, The Death of St. Bonaventure, St. Apollonia, Madonna with Child, L'Annonciation, Agnus Dei ,Saint Serapion, Saint Rufina, The Young Virgin, and St. Casilda of Burgos. There is also a self-portrait included.

A rose is a perennial flower or shrub that comes in many species and colors. There is also a range of sizes for roses from miniature roses to climbers that reach over 15 feet. They are characterized with a delightful fragrance, a set of colorful oval leaves, and a prickly stem. There is an edible side to roses: they have edible fruit, rose oil is used for cooking, rose hips are used for jellies and jams, and rose syrup is used for scones and marshmallows. Our set of Rose patterns contains many images of colored roses, many taken from a macro camera lens in various close up positions. Domenico Ghirlandaio (1449 - 1494) was an Italian Renaissance painter from Florence who used a grand and decorous style to depict figures with realistic shading and dimensionality. Dragons are imaginary creatures with reptile-like qualities. The name derives from Greek words meaning giant water snake. Dragons are often depicted with the ability to emit fire from their mouths and also the ability to fly. Dragons can have 2 or four legs, are sometimes given a poison secreting quality and have supernatural and devilish qualities. Joseph Mallord William Turner - Painter of Light

Joseph Mallord William Turner (1775 - 1851) was a controversial English landscape painter. His eccentric style matched his subjects - shipwrecks, fires, natural catastrophes, as well as natural phenomena such as sunlight, storms, rain, and fog. The significance of light to Turner resembled God's spirit. In his later paintings he concentrated on the play of light on water and the radiances of skies and fires, almost to an Impressionistic style. Soccer aka Association Football is a team sport which is assumed to be the most popular game in the world. The eleven man team plays on a grass field and attempts to shot a soccer ball into a large netted goal positioned on opposite sides of the field. The team with the most goals at the end of the timed game period is declared the winner. Sunflowers are an annual plant that is best distinguished by its large flowering head. The small flowers in the head are known as florets and are arranged in a mathematically defined spiral pattern.
