SegPlayMobile™ Documentation

SegPlayMobile™ is an incredibly fun and fascinating paint by number activity for handheld devices. Build with the Segmation™ imaging technology, SegPlayMobile™ allows users to color intricate line patterns from a growing collection. The program supports patterns with hundreds of pieces, each of which can be located via near infinite panning and zooming controls.

The program has a countdown feature so competitive users can optionally try to beat the clock. There are three user difficulty levels, several color schemes, various painting modes (normal, hint, and free), a progress display, and a built in help screen.

Each pattern has a unique set of colors, providing for a most enjoyable, colorful, and artistic "painting break" whenever desired.

Additional patterns will be available at the Segmation Store.

Installation Requirements

• SegPlayMobile™ requires a handheld device to be running the Windows Mobile Operating System (version 5.0 or higher).
• The device must be a PocketPC device. Smart Phone devices are not currently supported by SegPlayMobile™.
• A color display is required. Minimum display resolution is 240x320 (portrait and landscape modes are supported).
• A touch screen is required.
• 2 MB of free memory.

Demo Mode Limitations

SegPlayMobile™ is free distributed as a demo product, and also sold as a fully featured product.

1. The Demo version can be used for only 10 days after it has been installed.
2. The Demo version comes with only 3 patterns
3. The Demo version will support additional patterns.

When you purchase SegPlayMobile™, you'll be provided detailed information on how to obtain the fully featured product.

Starting and Exiting

You can launch the SegPlayMobile™ program by:

• Selecting SegPlayMobile™ from the Start Menu.
• Selecting the SegPlayMobile™ icon in the Start/Programs directory.

You can close the SegPlayMobile™ program by:

• Selecting the Close (X) button on the top-right corner of the SegPlayMobile™ Window. This actually minimizes the program and doesn't stop it from running (it will still be using memory).
• Selecting the Close (X) button in the toolbar below the pattern. This will stop the program from running.

Overview

We suggest opening the program and taking a moment to familiarize yourself with its features. The following description applies to running SegPlayMobile™ in portrait mode. The Title is at the top of the screen. The Canvas is the painting area right below it, and it contains the picture you are working on. The Canvas also contains scroll bars that appear whenever the pattern is zoomed in. The Small Toolbar can be found below the Canvas. The Palette is below the Canvas, and the Large Toolbar is below the Palette. The color swatch in the Palette that is active will have a distinct dark or light border around it.

Canvas

Navigation:

• Click the + magnifying glass icon in the large toolbar to switch to the magnifying pick mode. You can then zoom into the area you want to paint in. Each time you pick, the area around the picked point will be enlarged. Note that you can zoom in quite a ways!
• You can zoom all the way out by selecting the - magnifying glass icon.
• When you are zoomed in, scroll bars will appear on the left and bottom of the canvas. You can pick and drag with these bars to pan about the pattern.
• You can use the Pan/Zoom buttons on your device to pan in the top, bottom, left or right directions. Using the middle button will toggle between fully zoomed out and zoomed in.

Title

Selecting anywhere in the Title will bring up the About Screen:

You can exit the About Screen by picking anywhere in it, or by selecting the OK button at the top.

In the demo version of SegPlayMobile™, this screen will display the number of days remaining.

Small Toolbar

The small toolbar contains several controls that make SegPlayMobile™ even more fun to play!

• Pattern Name - Displays the name of the currently opened pattern.
• Status - Shows the number of pieces remaining to be colored, the number of palette colors remaining, and the number of misses (pick made which does not fill a piece).
• Open - Brings up the pattern open screen that allows you to select a new pattern to color:

• Color Scheme - Selecting this button will toggle through a series of color schemes that are used to draw the canvas. Changing the color scheme will allow you to better locate remaining uncolored pieces.
• User Mode - There are three user modes: Normal, Hint, and Free.
  1. Normal: Each piece is shown with the designated color number. When all pieces with the selected color are filled, that color is removed from the palette, and the next available color in the palette is automatically selected.
  2. Hint Mode: Only those pieces with a designated color number matching the active color contain a number. This makes it much easier to find the pieces to color and will greatly speed up your painting time. As in the Normal painting mode, when all pieces with the selected color are filled, that color is removed from the palette, and the next available color in the palette is automatically selected.
  3. Free Coloring Mode: No numbers are drawn on the pieces. You are free to paint any piece with any color you like. No colors are removed from the palette.
• Reset - Selecting this button, resets the program to default settings.
• Close - This button closes SegPlayMobile™ and stops it from running. The close button at the top of the application will also close SegPlayMobile™, but it will continue to run in the background and use memory.

Palette

1. The palette contains swatches of the colors to be used when painting the pattern.
2. These colors are unique for each pattern and are chosen in a process that uses the Segmation™ imaging technology.
3. There can be at most 32 colors in the palette.
4. You select the active color by picking it. The active color will be drawn with a black or white border to distinguish it from the other colors.
5. Zooming in or out of the pattern will cancel the active color. You will need to reselect the current color before painting.
6. A piece is colored whenever it is picked and the active color matches the displayed number.

Large Toolbar

• Magnify In - Enables magnification mode. The pattern will be zoomed in where ever the next pick in the pattern occurs.
• Magnify Out - Enables magnification mode. The pattern will automatically be zoomed out all the way.
• Sound - Toggles the sound feature on and off. When sound is enabled, sound effects are played whenever a color is selected, a piece is filled, a missed fill occurs, a color in the palette is completed, the pattern is completed, and when time has run out.
• Clock - Toggles the timing mode. When timing is enabled, SegPlayMobile is put into a competitive "beat-the-clock" mode. You can challenge yourself in your painting efforts by using the timer.
• Time Remaining - When timing is enabled, this countdown clock is shown.
• User Difficulty - When timing is enabled, the user difficulty level adjusts the amount of time given to complete the pattern. There are three levels available.
• Restart - Restarts the pattern (all pieces become uncolored, and the time is reset). A confirmation message will be shown before the restart occurs.
• Pause - Pauses the timer. No pieces can be colored when the timer is paused. You can resume the game by reselecting the pause button.
• Complete - Completes the pattern (all pieces become colored, and the time is stopped). A confirmation message will be shown before the completion occurs.
• Help - Bring up a help screen that summarizes the various features in the SegPlayMobile™ program.

Landscape Mode

SegPlayMobile™ can be run in either portrait or landscape mode. You may switch layouts at any time.
